EU biodiversity laws need tougher monitoring and clearer measures of progress

The EU will need to enhance monitoring and adopt a new set of benchmarks to assess the state of ecosystems as it seeks to translate its biodiversity goals into legislation, the director of the European Environment Agency said on Wednesday during EU Green Week.
