Concern grows over potential decline in key EU carbon sink

Forest campaigners have warned Europe’s forests could absorb nearly a fifth less carbon by 2025 than at the turn of the millennium after the European Commission finalised benchmarks on the climate impact of forestry that they claim give member states leeway to increase logging.
