Commission pledges legislative response to plastic waste and crime

The EU executive is planning to update rules on packaging design, waste shipment and end-of-life vehicles in a bid to clamp down on plastic waste, and its illegal disposal, now that Europe is no longer able to simply export it to the developing world, a senior official said on Thursday.
