IEA chief urges politicians to prevent post-covid surge in emissions

This year promises to be “pivotal” in the battle to halt global heating, but governments must move quickly to prevent a rebound in fossil fuel consumption, the head of the International Energy Agency Fatih Birol said on Monday as he announced a March summit intended as a “bridge” to the crunch COP26 meeting in November.
