Energy Charter Treaty: EU court ruling casts doubt on claims for damages over environmental policy

European energy companies and investors cannot use the controversial Energy Charter Treaty to sue the EU governments for lost revenue they attribute to policy measures, the EU Court of Justice concluded on Thursday in a keenly awaited judgment.
