Parliament says EU must cut energy use by a quarter to 2030

MEPs have agreed that EU final energy consumption should be cut to the equivalent of 740 million tonnes of oil annually by the end of the decade, 14.5% below a ‘reference scenario’ established in 2020 that forecast consumption of 864 mtoe on the prevailing downward trend.
