Member states must not approve projects liable to worsen drinking water quality - ECJ opinion

An adviser to the EU’s top court has said a plan to flood a former lignite mine in eastern Germany should only go ahead if the developer can provide “a complete set of measures” to make sure it does not affect the quality of drinking water.
