EU to ban ‘carbon neutral’ claims in product marketing from 2026

Unfair claims about environmental features of products, such as the commonly used ‘carbon neutral’ and climate properties based on dubious carbon offsetting schemes, will be banned in the EU as a result of an agreement between European Parliament and Council negotiators reached in the late hours of Tuesday 19 September.
