MEPs target microplastics in reform of sewage treatment rules

Water companies have criticised the lack of support for tougher extended producer responsibility (EPR) provisions as the European Parliament’s environment committee adopted its position on a reform to the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive (UWWTD), while the response from environmental groups was mixed.
