Urban waste water: Governments say polluters must pay to remove micropollutants

The EU Council has backed proposed extended producer responsibility (EPR) provisions in a reform of the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive that would make pharmaceuticals and cosmetics producers pay to remove antibiotics, pesticides and other micropollutants during sewage processing.
