Analysis: How Italy is preparing a return to nuclear power

The Italian government has recently put in place a ‘national platform for sustainable nuclear energy’ which aims to develop a roadmap for the possible return of nuclear in the country’s energy mix. Italians decided with two referendums, in 1987 and 2011, to abandon nuclear power, dismantle the four existing plants and cancel future projects. Can the referendums’ outcome be reversed?
