RE supplied 20% of EU power needs last year

Renewable energy (RE) accounted for 19.9% of total EU electricity use in 2009, according to figures released by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) on Monday. Hydropower had the largest share with 11.6%, followed by wind (4.2%).
