Italian ban on plastic bags 'breaches EU waste law'

A ban on non-biodegradable plastic shopping bags that came into force in Italy on 1 January violates the packaging waste directive, industry association PlasticsEurope has warned. The ban was approved by Italian ministers on 22 December.
