Emerald Isle "not as green as it was"
Ireland's rural environment is under increasing pressure, the country's environmental protection agency has warned in a new report presenting 29 key indicators of progress. The indicators will support the environmental dimension of a forthcoming national spatial strategy. The report recommends new measures to control agricultural greenhouse gas emissions, "appropriate" nutrient management on all farms, creation of an integrated rural policy and research to produce better data on Irish biodiversity and natural resources.
