Commission trumpets sustainability research
EU research commissioner Philippe Busquin today launched the first of four presentations by scientists working on EU-funded research projects showing how their work is contributing to sustainable development. Most of today's presentations concerned research aimed at reducing water consumption in pulp and paper mills. Subsequent presentations will showcase work on chemicals, end-of-life waste treatment and "sustainable technologies". See the European Commission's research directorate and a press release.
