EU information access law rubber-stamped

EU foreign ministers last week formally approved a draft accord reached in June by environment ministers on revising EU law governing public access to environmental information (EED 11/06/01). The common position now provides the starting point for the law's second reading. The directive is the first of three - the others are on access to justice and public participation in decision-making - that should eventually enable the EU to ratify the 1998 Århus environmental openness convention (EED 22/01/02).
