EU parliament round-up

The major focus of this week's European parliament plenary session was a vote on the future EU emissions trading scheme (EED 10/10/02). Two other issues featured. In the first, MEPs backed a compromise on the draft EU buildings energy efficiency directive that will see the law implemented to a six-year deadline (EED 03/10/02). In the second, they restated calls for a ban on consumer sales of carcinogenic, mutagenic and reprotoxic substance preparations to be extended to finished articles (EED 02/10/02). See texts adopted this week in the parliament, and European Commission statement on buildings efficiency.
