Warm welcome for UK hazwaste forum
A UK government proposal to create a hazardous waste forum was welcomed today by both the national chemical industry association and Anglo-Welsh environment agency. The forum should especially focus on hazardous waste reduction to avert a threatened gap between generation and treatment capacity. Due to the 1999 EU landfill directive the number of disposal sites accepting hazardous waste is expected to drop from 200 to just 50 by 2004.
