Eurelectric updates EU climate trading study

European electricity trade association Eurelectric has published updated conclusions from its third simulation of an EU greenhouse gas emissions trading system (EED 08/04/02). Dubbed GETS3bis, the new study analyses the effect of trading under rules currently being considered by the council of ministers and European parliament. One of its main conclusions is that auctioning emission allowances will have significant effects on the distribution of compliance costs among different sectors, regardless of the method chosen to recycle auction revenues back to industry. See GETS3bis press release, report summary and full report.
