EU states warned over green law compliance

The European Commission today announced infringement actions against two governments for breaching EU directives. Warnings have been sent to Luxembourg regarding the biocides directive and Spain regarding access to environmental information legislation. In the case of Luxembourg, the Commission is alleging continued non-compliance despite a European court of justice judgement delivered last year. The decisions to issue both warnings were taken by commissioners last December. Further announcements agreed then are to be announced on Tuesday and Wednesday (EED 19/12/02).
