EU white goods energy label extended
The EU's A-to-G labelling scheme for household goods is to be extended for some product types from next year to reflect improvements in energy efficiency achieved by manufacturers, the European Commission has announced. From 2004 the best-performing fridges and freezers will carry labels showing efficiency to be A+ or A++. The original scale was launched in 1994 (EED 11/09/98). The new label range has been agreed in cooperation with white goods trade association Ceced (EED 12/08/02). See press release.
