Views on EU organic farm policy exposed

The results of consultation on European Commission proposals for boosting organic farming in Europe were published this week (EED 07/02/03). Consumers provided nearly half of responses. Over 60% of comments came from individuals or organisations in France, Austria, Italy and Germany. Many respondents urge support for organic farming through the common agricultural policy and strict rules on traceability and authenticity. Meanwhile, a new study by green NGOs claims that the growing of genetically modified crops in Spain has contaminated organic crops. See consultation results and GM report.
