Britain's "ghost ship" row rattles on
As the first of four mothballed US navy vessels being towed to the UK for dismantling reached an English port on Wednesday the row showed no signs of abating. Portugal and Ireland have both now intervened, in the first case to block two of the vessels from stopping at the mid-Atlantic Azores islands, and in the second to demand return of all vessels to America. Meanwhile, Greenpeace said it had uncovered British vessels being sent for scrapping in India, contravening international rules and exposing double standards on the part of the UK government.
