Scotland boosts fight against green crimes

Scotland's public prosecutors' office COPFS has created a national network of specialist environmental prosecutors, it announced on Monday. The Scottish environmental protection agency (Sepa)- which unlike its Anglo-Welsh counterpart cannot launch prosecutions itself - warmly welcomed the initiative. In a related development, the number of prosecutions launched by Norway's nature inspectorate jumped six-fold in 2003 after it won increased resources and more staff, Nationen newspaper has reported.
