Experts advance EU environment-health agenda

The European Commission has released a synthesis of baseline scientific reports intended to underpin future recommendations for action under the EU's environment and health strategy, Scale (EED 12/06/03). Two hundred experts in three working groups contributed to the reports. The groups -, focusing respecitively on indicators and priority diseases, integrated monitoring and research - are to make recommendations based on their findings next month. Working group member Catherine Wattiez of Pesticide action network said that too much emphasis was being put on research and not enough on action to reduce exposure. See baseline reports.
