"Green jobs" strategy unveiled by Scotland
The Scottish government on Tuesday issued a draft "green job strategy" aimed at combining sustainability and economic growth. Enterprise minister Jim Wallace said there was ample scope for Scotland to "lead from the front" when it came to raising productivity and creating jobs at the same time as meeting ambitious environmental targets. Target areas in the strategy are renewable energy, waste recycling and management, and resource efficiency. The European Commission is due to issue a communication on employment and the environment in July. See press release and consultation document.
