Alpine ministers urge Russia to back Kyoto
The environment ministers of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein appealed to Russia to ratify the Kyoto protocol on Thursday. During a meeting in Potsdam, the four men warned that the Alps would suffer ever more natural catastrophes without action to limit global warming. The ministers also called for more efforts to develop renewable energy and expressed concern about fine particle emissions from construction machinery.
