Hauliers demand Euro IV lorry incentives
Hauliers have called on European governments to offer tax incentives for buyers of reduced emission vans and lorries. Manufacturers are already offering commercial vehicles meeting Euro IV standards ahead of an October 2005 deadline, the Geneva-based International road transport union (IRU) said on Monday. But Euro IV models cost significantly more than Euro III, which is making operators reluctant to spend this extra before they are obliged to. Austria, Holland and Switzerland are already considering such incentives, IRU told ENDS Europe DAILY. See press release.
